For years, Federer and his Roger Federer Foundation have been doing remarkable work to give children affected by poverty a hopeful and self-determined future through educational projects in Africa. So far, three million children have benefited from an improved quality of education. Federer's foundation views education as the key to combating poverty and focuses specifically on helping socio-ecologically disadvantaged children in southern Africa and Switzerland.

'Full potential for every child'
Last week in Berlin during an event with winners of the Deutsche Postcode Lotterie, Roger Federer emphasised the importance of social commitment with clear words: “Every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, deserves the chance to develop their full potential. We should all work toward this. Thanks to Postcode Lotteries, many charitable initiatives like my foundation are supported.”

Michiel Verboven, Member of the Executive Board of the Postcode Lottery Group, said: “We all are deeply inspired by the work Roger Federer does through his foundation for early childhood education. His commitment to creating a better world aligns perfectly with the values we uphold at the Postcode Lottery. We are proud to support Roger's mission, thanks to our players, and delighted to have him as our international ambassador, helping to raise awareness on how we, together, are making a positive impact."

Lucky players
Alongside Federer, fellow ambassadors Katarina Witt and Kai Pflaume were also present. There was a special highlight for some lucky players of the Deutsche Postcode Lotterie, who won a meet and greet with Roger Federer in a prize draw — an unforgettable moment.

Roger Federer Foundation & Postcode Lottery Group

The Roger Federer Foundation focuses on improving early childhood education in poverty-affected regions, primarily in southern Africa and Switzerland. It collaborates with local partners to develop sustainable programmes that enhance the quality of education, especially in primary schools and early learning centres. The foundation believes education is key to lifting communities out of poverty and has benefited over three million children so far.

The Postcode Lottery Group supports the Roger Federer Foundation with regular funding, helping it expand its educational initiatives and reach more disadvantaged children globally.
