Enabling positive change in 2022

Highlights of the Postcode Lottery Group in 2022

A total of €854 million is raised for thousands of charities in 2022, all thanks to the millions of players in the Netherlands, Sweden, Great Britain, Germany and Norway.

At the Lotteries, we strive to enable positive changes, whether it's by awarding numerous and significant prizes to our players or by donating funds to charitable causes through the support of our millions of players.

Postcode Lottery Group
More and more people are enjoying playing our Lotteries, and in 2022, the FriendsLottery and the Postcode Lotteries in the Netherlands, Sweden, Great Britain, Germany, and Norway (together known as the Postcode Lottery Group) reached nearly 14 million subscriptions.

With a revenue of €2.4 billion, a record-breaking amount of €854 million was donated to over 1,200 charitable organisations and thousands of projects, both locally through our Neighbourhood Funds and internationally where people and nature are in need of support. We presented golden envelopes with prizes and gifts totaling €894 million to many winners in hundreds of thousands of winning streets and neighbourhoods.

Larger revenue outside the Netherlands
The Postcode Lottery Group since some years generates a larger revenue outside the Netherlands than within. In the Netherlands, we experienced growth once again, with the Dutch Postcode Lottery and the FriendsLottery collectively donating €473 million to charitable causes and culture. In Sweden, we saw an increasing number of players, and in Great Britain, we reached the milestone of over £1 billion raised for charitable causes since it began in 2005. The German Postcode Lottery now has 17 long-term charity partners.

As a successful international group of Lotteries, we have already united our strengths, knowledge, and marketing activities and have become an internationally attractive employer. We are also working towards strengthening our governance.

Unrestricted use and long-term support
The Postcode Lottery Group is committed to making the Lotteries appealing and accessible to everyone, reaching and surprising even more people. With a growing number of players, we can make our prize packages even more enticing while continuing to support charitable causes with substantial amounts.

The significant value of our flexible funding was evident in the recent need for emergency aid, such as in and around Ukraine, as well as in Turkey and Syria after the devastating earthquakes. The Lotteries' foundations, such as the DOEN Foundation, Stiftelsen, and the Trusts, support a wide range of initiatives, from social enterprises to thousands of local projects through our Neighborhood Funds. These community initiatives foster strong local communities with funding from the Postcode Lottery.
