Nice Nailantei Leng’ete (1991) is a Kenyan human rights activist who advocates for alternative rites of passage for girls in Africa and campaigns to stop female genital mutilation. We are delighted to welcome her as the newest International Ambassador of the Postcode Lottery Group.

As a young girl, Nice Nailantei Leng'ete escaped female genital cutting on two occasions. Since then, she has been a staunch opponent of this harmful practice within her community. In 2018, she was recognised as one of TIME100's most influential people on Earth. Last year, she received the Roosevelt Foundation Freedom from Want Award in Middelburg.

Nice Place Foundation
She is the founder of the Nice Place Foundation, a safe haven for girls from Kajiado, Kenya, who ran from the cut. The centre provides shelter, food, education, as well as emotional and medical assistance. Thanks to Nailantei Leng'ete and Amref Flying Doctors, a hundred girls receive the help they deserve each year.

The new ambassador is happy with the support from the Postcode Lottery: “Thanks to the Lottery's support, we can empower and support girls to become the women of their dreams and put an end to the practice of female genital mutilation.”
